After an underwhelming theatrical run, Dhanush‘s latest crime thriller Kara is set to make its digital debut on Netflix. The film, which was released in theatres on April 30, 2026, failed to make a mark at the box office but will now get a second chance to reach audiences through OTT.
Streaming on Netflix from May 28
The digital streaming rights of Kara have been acquired by Netflix, and the film is officially set to begin streaming from May 28, 2026. This means audiences now have only a few more days to wait for its OTT premiere.
Apart from Tamil, Kara will also be available in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, allowing it to reach a wider South Indian audience. The multi-language release strategy ensures maximum visibility across key markets in the region.
Crime Drama from Por Thozhil Director
Kara is directed by Vignesh Raja, who previously delivered the blockbuster OTT suspense thriller Por Thozhil. With Kara, the director once again explores a gripping crime-based narrative filled with action and emotional drama.
The story revolves around a former thief who wants to leave his criminal past behind and live a peaceful life. However, unexpected circumstances force him back into the world of crime, setting off a chain of events that form the core of this thriller. Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead role opposite Dhanush in the film.
With a runtime of 161 minutes and a UA 16+ certification, Kara promises an intense viewing experience for mature audiences when it arrives on Netflix later this month.
